Let’s discuss metal vs. clear braces. Which is better? Well, it’s not a matter of one being better than the other, but rather which is more suited to your needs and preferences. Here at the office of Sheldon Jay Rintel, DDS, PC, no matter whether you choose the traditional with our Forest Hills metal braces or the system of clear aligners called Invisalign, you can be assured of the results you want, which is a straighter, more attractive, and healthier set of teeth.
Metal braces have a long and storied history. They go back to the very beginnings of the field of orthodontics. That doesn’t mean that they haven’t undergone any changes, though. In fact, it’s fair to say that the advancements made in them have brought us to the point where our Forest Hills metal braces are significantly more comfortable, lightweight, and stylish than any of the ones from the past. Gone are the thick and unsightly brackets and tangles of wires. Even better, they are every bit as effective in moving your teeth into a more ideal position than the more old-fashioned type were. Some people find that the fixed position of our Forest Hills metal braces are more desirable. You don’t have to think about taking them out and putting them back in. There’s no worry about misplacing them, either. Our orthodontist will make the adjustments to them as needed. On the other hand, Invisalign is removable. The benefits are that you can take out your aligners when you eat, brush, and floss. There are no food restrictions because of this. And your oral hygiene will be more efficient. And let’s not forget that Invisalign clear braces are virtually undetectable to the eye. So you won’t have to feel self-conscious.
